Welcome to the bumper DIY Investor Magazine
for March and April. It takes us up until the
end of the tax year and so this edition includes
articles about making your portfolio as tax
efficient as possible by making full use of ISAs
and pensions.
New pension rules are taking effect and as ever
DIY Investor will be there to guide you through
the jungle. Whatever your strategy, make sure you
don’t lose out on these important tax breaks.
In his pre-election budget George Osborne
maintained his support for savers and investors
with an increase in personal tax allowances to
£10,600 for standard rate (rising to £11,000 from
April 2017) and £42,385 for higher rate (£43,300
April 2017); a personal allowance of £1,000
for savers (£500 higher rate) has also been
introduced.
With an increased annual subscription limit of
£15,240 the NISA will become even more flexible
with investors allowed to withdraw and replace
money in their pot in any tax year without it
losing its tax free status; first time buyers are
